RADIATION PRESSURE

Radiation pressure

Radiation Pressure

Radiation pressure is the mechanical pressure exerted upon any surface due to the exchange of momentum between the object and the electromagnetic field of the electromagnetic wave.

The associated force is called the radiation pressure force.

Force on a reflector results from reflecting the photon flux.

An object absorbing an electromagnetic wave will experience a force in the direction of propagation o wave. The force corresponds to radiation pressure exerted on the object by the wave.
